With its chic décor, stunning views, and fantastic menu options, we’re always excited to plan a Tampa EDITION wedding. Tampa EDITION is located in Water Street, a trendy neighborhood in downtown Tampa, Florida. The five-star hotel has a stunning collection of unique spaces and tons of photo locations. Host your entire wedding weekend here from your welcome party to your after party and everything in between. If you’re thinking about booking this luxurious property for your wedding, check out Tampa wedding planner Alexa Kritis’ insider tips.
The Tampa EDITION offers a very quintessential Tampa experience with more of a city vibe. The venue features several restaurants, a spacious ballroom, several ceremony locations, and overnight accommodations. There are only a small handful of EDITION hotels in the U.S., so we’re really lucky they chose to put one downtown. The venue opened in the fall of 2022.
You have a few ceremony location options for your Tampa EDITION wedding. The garden terrace is great for a ceremony or smaller social events. It’s a secluded outdoor space with beautiful greenery. The terrace is adjoined to a couple of the hotel’s guest rooms, which couples get to book along with the space to keep everything private.
You can also host your ceremony on the ninth-floor pool deck with its panoramic views of downtown Tampa, unique Japanese blueberry trees, and blush bougainvillea. It has a funky and unique layout, so we have to get a little creative.
The ballroom serves as an indoor ceremony location. For your ceremony, we’ll use about a third of the space and drape off the remaining perimeter of the room so everything is clean, sleek, and modern.
Host cocktail hour on the pool deck, which we did for one of our couples, or in the ballroom foyer. The foyer has great city views and floor-to-ceiling windows. There’s a small terrace off the ballroom that’s great for cigar roller entertainment or just to see the city. If you hold your ceremony in the ballroom, the space is flipped for your reception while you enjoy cocktail hour.
The ballroom accommodates up to 150 seated guests for a reception. And one of the best things about it is there are no carpets to clash with your color scheme. Instead, you’ll find light oak hardwood floors. The whole room is cohesive and beautiful with high ceilings, city views, and floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s truly a neutral space.
A lot of couples also use the hotel for their room block even if they’re not getting married there. Many of our couples get ready in the stunning Tampa EDITION presidential suite. We’ve also held an afterparty celebration in the venue’s Arts Club under sparkling disco balls. The lobby bar and Lilac restaurant are great locations for a welcome party and rehearsal dinner.
The EDITION brand is part of Marriot’s luxury collection. This is evident from the service and staff to the décor and design, but without feeling pretentious. The hotel also has an iconic white staircase that makes a phenomenal photo backdrop.
Most of the venue is super neutral with a color palette of white, black, gray, and gold. For wedding photos, we love the contrast of the Punch Room in comparison to the rest of the hotel. It’s this little speakeasy-like cocktail lounge that feels like a totally different place. It has a dark and moody vibe with cobalt blue lounge chairs, chartreuse green couches, a dark wood bar, and heavy drapes.
The food and drinks here are also fantastic. There are so many options for menu customization. For one of our couples, we served espresso martinis for an after-dinner drink.
We used draping to add a softness to the ballroom and brought in chandeliers to up the elegance of the space. For one of our weddings here, we used a mix of round and rectangular tables to create a unique floor plan. Because the ballroom is a rectangle, it’s easier to execute a creative layout request. The possibilities are endless.
Couples that are chic, modern and care about having an elevated experience will love this venue. Having the ability to host an entire weekend of events under one roof is also important to our Tampa EDITION couples. This includes your welcome party, rehearsal dinner, getting ready space, photo locations, and afterparty. The venue is also located in a walkable downtown area that makes getting around easy for out-of-town guests.
We highly recommend signing up as a Marriott Bonvoy member if you’re booking a wedding and room block here. Marriott is generous with giving you points for your stay and wedding. Use your points for honeymoon travel and future trips.
Plan to budget $550 – 750 per guest for a Tampa EDITION wedding. This cost includes the venue rental fee, food, beverages, tables, in-house chairs, white linens, white napkins, flatware, and glassware. Tax and service fees are also included in this budget. This pricing does not include wedding planning services, invitations, photography, florals, music, and other outside vendors.
We’re lucky that we’ve already had the chance to implement some amazing ideas throughout this entire venue. It would be cool to do an intimate reception on the garden terrace with market lights or another trendy light installation. We’d also love to cover the pool and hold a ceremony on the pool deck.
